Delete Your Account and Data

Last updated: August 31, 2026

This page explains how to delete your account and your data from GPS Tracker: Family Locator (“Family Locator” below; Google Play package io.aetherstudios.familytracker), published by Aether Studios Co Ltd.

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. A Family Locator Premium subscription belongs to your Google Play account, not to your Family Locator account, and it keeps renewing until you cancel it. Cancel it first at Google Play → Subscriptions, then delete your account here.

Option 1 — delete it in the app

This is immediate and needs no request.

  1. Open Family Locator.
  2. Go to the Settings tab.
  3. Tap Delete account and data at the bottom.
  4. Confirm. The app signs out and starts again with a new, empty circle.

If you created the circle and other people are still in it, the app will refuse and tell you so. Deleting your account would take their location history with it, and they never agreed to that. Remove the other members first — tap a member on the map, then Remove from circle — and delete your account after that.

Option 2 — ask us to delete it

Use this if you cannot use the app. That includes:

  • you have uninstalled the app;
  • you lost or replaced the phone;
  • you no longer have access to the account for any other reason.

Email [email protected] with the subject Delete my data. We reply within 30 days.

Family Locator can be used without ever giving us a name or an email address, so we may have nothing to match you against. Please include whichever of these you have:

  • the Google account you linked, if you linked one in Settings — this alone identifies you;
  • otherwise, the name shown next to you in the circle and the name of the person who set the circle up. We will ask them to confirm which member is you before deleting anything.

Without at least one of those we may be unable to identify your data, and we will tell you so rather than delete someone else’s.

What is deleted

Everything below goes immediately and permanently:

  • your account itself, and your ability to sign back in;
  • your location history — every stored track and every location point we hold for you;
  • your live location, your online/offline status, and any SOS alert you sent;
  • your profile in the circle — display name, role, avatar, phone model and join date;
  • your entries in the circle’s activity feed — arrivals, departures and joins;
  • your place-alert subscriptions, and your notification token;
  • the whole circle, if you were its last remaining member — including its places and its activity feed;
  • everything Family Locator stored on your phone, including location points that had not been uploaded yet — this part happens when you delete in the app; an email request can only reach what is on our servers.

We keep no scheduled backups of this data. For 7 days after deletion the files remain in our storage provider’s soft-delete window, after which they are removed permanently and no copy exists anywhere. The app offers no way to restore a deleted account: deletion cannot be undone.

What is not deleted

  • Your Google Play subscription. Cancel it in Google Play → Subscriptions. We cannot cancel it for you, and deleting your account does not stop it renewing.
  • Other members’ data. If the circle outlives you, their locations, places and history stay theirs.
  • Crash and diagnostic reports. Family Locator sends anonymous crash reports through Firebase Crashlytics, kept for 90 days. These are tied to an app installation, not to your account, and contain no location data — so they cannot be looked up by account and are not removed by a deletion request.
